Miami-Dade Fire Rescue hosts Open House at "Heroes of September 11" Station 3

Free fun for the whole family



Firefighters from Station 3 wearing pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

(MIAMI, October 3, 2014) – In an effort to bring our stations and firefighters closer to the communities we serve, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department’s (MDFR) Heroes of September 11th, Fire Station #3 will be hosting an open house on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3911 SW 82 Avenue.

This event is open the public and will kick off the start of National Fire Prevention Week which begins on Oct. 5 through Oct.11, 2014. Throughout the day, residents and their families will be provided with an inside look at public safety through interactive demonstrations, informational booths and static equipment displays. The open house will provide attendees with free food, drinks and fun activities for the whole family. The community will also have an opportunity to meet the men and women behind our world-class operations and experience the challenging scenarios they encounter on a daily basis

In June 2002, Station #3 was dedicated to the 343 New York City Fire Department firefighters that perished on September 11, 2001. Station #3 is the only fire station in the county that houses two red fire units within the MDFR fleet. In 2012, this station memorialized a piece of steel beam from the World Trade Center collapse on their premise.
